That’s right. Sweepstakes casinos are available for Aussies who are interested in spinning the reels without putting a cent on the line. Here, we’ll be highlighting everything about these gaming sites, how you can sign up, and the types of pokies you can play right from your mobile device. We’ll also point you towards top options like Roo Vegas.
Before going into more details about these sites, here are a few pros and cons to be aware of.
Online casinos in Australia aren’t legal and are prohibited based on the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. So you won’t find any licensed online casinos in Australia offering pokies, blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, or baccarat for real money. Although Australia allows physical casinos and licensed online sports betting, online casinos are still off limits for real money gaming. Is all hope lost for Aussies?
Not at all. While real money online casinos are off limits, sweepstakes casinos are alternatives that let you play all the same genres of pokies you normally would at regular casinos for free. If you’ve been curious and asking are online casinos in Australia legal? You now know they are not.
Sweepstakes casinos are free-to-play gaming sites that operate differently from real money casinos. Instead of using real cash, sweepstakes casinos let you play hundreds of Vegas-style games using virtual currencies called Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins. It’s also normal to find slightly different names but they are usually two virtual currencies and each has a distinct purpose.
Gold Coins are strictly used for fun gameplay. You can use them to play all the games, including pokies, live dealers, arcade games, scratchcards, poker, bingo, and lots more for entertainment. But you can’t redeem Gold Coins for real-world prizes.
Sweeps Coins let you play the same games as Gold Coins, but have an added advantage of being redeemable for real rewards like gift cards and cash prizes. You first have to satisfy a few simple terms like using your SC in gameplay for a certain number of times, having a verified player account, and meeting a set minimum threshold, usually between 50 SC to 100 SC with some sweepstakes casinos. It’s nothing major.
You’ll receive both virtual currencies for free when you sign up and complete simple steps like logging in each day or taking part in tournaments.
